The Compassion Coalition recognizes many of the problems facing our country are not met with compassion, and the impact of legislation to better our nation relies on compassion for the issues plaguing them. This ranges from multitudes of issues, from gun violence to immigration. These acts of violence stripping lives and humility, are always boiled down to debates about economic freedoms rather than the preservation of life. At the Compassion Coalition, we aim to reintroduce compassion back into US government policymaking to maximize aiding our citizens. Our purpose is to be the bridge between lawmakers and humanizing the experiences behind the issues at hand. I constantly see how politics often loses its connection to humanity. Gun violence is boiled down to numbers lost and met with words instead of action. We lose the direct impact this continuously has, making it a policy point rather than a travesty.
