world we imagine pt 1
The first step to a better world would be compassion. Something instilled in all us of, however, some lack a depth with the emotion. While there many physical action, such as bills and acts that can be done to better the world in so many ways. I think the base of all those actions is compassion. Something I have noticed in so many of the issues plaguing us right now is a lack of understanding of the issues and the effects they have on people long term.
The main issue that comes to mind when talking about compassion and its role in solving an issue is gun violence. Understanding why we need stricter gun laws and the effect guns have on society is tied with having compassion to the continuous victims of gun violence. Compassion for the parents that lost their children in school, the friends who went to a concert and did not make ig out, the families that went to a festival to be med with violence. Change is drawn by compassion and empathy. Laws and restrictions are not only for protecting assets and property, they are meant to protect life. Outside of gun violence, so many factors that harm our world, can take a turn to a better trajectory when looking towards the people that are being harmed.
Hi Shahd, becoming more compassionate en masse and internalizing the struggles of others can go a long way in promoting a better world. One next step could be creating a campaign or workshop that helps people practice compassion through immersion. Collecting and sharing stories of something like gun violence from your example or families impacted by similar issues could help humanize the issue and move others to action. Heightened compassion could be put into practice through advocacy as well, through letter-writing to legislators or hosting events aimed at advocating for changes in public policy.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a powerful reflection, thank you for sharing it. I really appreciate how you emphasized that compassion isn’t just a feeling but a necessary foundation for real, lasting change. Your example of gun violence hits especially hard; it’s so true that behind every policy debate are real people whose lives have been shattered. When we lead with compassion, we begin to see issues not just as political or ideological, but as deeply human. Your words are a strong reminder that change starts when we care enough to truly understand the pain of others.
ReplyDeleteI really agree with your point that compassion is the foundation for meaningful change. Your focus on gun violence was really powerful because it affected so many people in so many different stages in life. I believe real progress starts when we truly understand and care about the people around us. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHey Shahd, I really like what you said about compassion being the root of everything. It’s so easy to get caught up in the politics and forget the real people behind the issues. One idea you could build on is thinking about how to actually grow that compassion in people. Like, maybe it’s through telling more personal stories or creating spaces where people can actually hear from those affected. Just an idea — but I feel like if we can get people to actually feel it, real change would follow way faster.
